CTK YOUTH
CAR WASH
INSTRUCTIONS

ADVANCE PLANNING

  1. Reserve Date
In January or early February reserve date(s) at the Great Falls Exxon. Saturdays in April, May, and June are popular and must be reserved early in the year. The owner of the station keeps a scheduling book and you can stop by and see what dates are available and schedule dates for CTK. He is familiar with our church and appreciates that we are reliable.

    The best hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  2. Arrange for Matching Funds from AAL
  3. Point of Contact is Joyce Weber. AAL matches up to $800. Need to coordinate with Joyce in advance. Mention AAL in advertising.

  4. Schedule Workers
You will need a minimum of 12 youth and 3 adults at all times. Some spend the entire time, but many are there for only part of the time. You can try to schedule a morning and an afternoon shift, but make sure you have a commitment for a minimum of 12 at all times.
  5. Prepare Advertising
Place a notice in the CTK newsletter and for a couple of weeks in the church bulletin. You will need 2 to 3 posters for advertising to place at the intersection of Georgetown Pike and Walker Road to attract customers. The McKays have a laminated poster. Recommend laminating new ones. The youth can hold the signs at each side of the intersection to attract customers. They often receive significant donations from customers who do not get their cars washed. Notify local community newspapers and they may run a short article/notice.
  6. Purchase supplies
One large bottle of car wash soap and some wheel cleaner.
  7. Refreshments
Have volunteers bring drinks, snacks, and lunch. Optionally, pizza can be purchased for lunch.
