| White Water Rafting 2002 Seven High School youth and two adults went on the annual white water rafting trip this year (second of two trips this year). It was a blast! We arrived Saturday afternoon just in time for Jackie, Jimmy, Matt, Jon and Don to go ATV riding for two hours. You couldn't recognize them afterwards from all the mud. At least Matt learned how to wash jeans. While they were riding ATVs, Steffi, Megan, Kim and Craig went rappelling down a 100 foot clift. Since Craig had a digital camera, you get to see pictures below. After dinner and showers, everyone gathered around the campfire, roasted marshmellows and made smores. It didn't take long for a "lively" game of "I doubt it" to ensue. Thank goodness everyone was tired, since the beds in the "lodge" were bit "firm". Sunday morning it was off to the rapids at 9:00. Unfortunately, the water was a foot below normal level reducing the thrills somewhat but never fear, the boys made up for it. I think more of us "fell" out of the boat this time than ever before. Not a soul was spared. The ultimate was during the last rapid when all of a sudden there goes Jimmy and Megan (we have it on videotape!), then Jon, then, Jackie, then Matt, then Don leaving only Craig, Steffi and the guide to take the boat to shore. Everyone else had to swim in - including Molly (thanks to Jon). Now you would think everyone would be exhausted, right. Oh no!!! The volleyball game. Spikes, dives, misses, teamwork, solos, support, disgust, ..... we had it all but above all it was fun. Again we had smores later around the campfire but also devotions. We talked about how people always seem call toGod when "under fire in the foxhole". But why not when all is calm and good? Also, how people nurture their faith in different ways and how one shouldn't judge others in how they pursue their faith. Afterwards, we shared riddles, stories and yawns. The next day after home cooked biscuits, gravy, sausage, and scrambled eggs for breakfast, we headed home with one last stop for frozen custard in Winchester. Wow. Now look below for some pictures and here's to looking forward to next year! Click on the thumbnail picture to enlarge it.
